School Year 2017-2018 News!
From the School Board of Levy County:
We are excited about the opportunity to experience the Great American Total Solar Eclipse on August 21 between 1:15 p.m. and 4:11 p.m. There will be many educational opportunities that present themselves during this event. We also realize that those who don't take proper precautions can damage their eyes. It is never safe to look at a partial or annular eclipse, or the partial phases of a total solar eclipse, without the proper equipment and techniques. We have become aware of special "eclipse glasses" that some are buying that do not meet the filtering specifications that would allow for safe viewing. Therefore, we will not allow viewing of the Eclipse on school property with these glasses. We will not allow outside viewing or any outside school activity between 1:00 and 4:30 P.M. on August 21. This includes outside recess, athletic practices, etc. We realize there will be safety challenges during class changes, and for transportation home, but will continue to emphasize that it is not safe to look at the Eclipse during this time. We do not intend to alter our normal transportation processes at this time. Our goal is to take full advantage of this educational opportunity, while at the same time protecting the health of our students and staff, which is our top priority.
